I have been Kitesurfing since the fall of 2006 and have come across many people in my travels that want to learn this amazing sport but have no idea how…

I have created this site for your reference and enjoyment… have fun!

If you want to kitesurf and want to know how, take a look below at the list of things you need to do.

1. By a trainer kite immediately. This is a 2 line foil kite with a bar. Best Kiteboarding have a great 3m one here. Most of the big kite brands have a trainer kite so there are many choices. If you have access to instruction at this point you should take an hour or two land lesson.

2. On any day where you can fly the kite – fly it.

Fly the kite until you can control it with one hand blindfold! Seriously though, until you instinctively know what to do.You need to be able to do power strokes and multiple loops either way without a problem and only crashing it if the wind fails! If you persevere with the trainer kite it will save you money on instruction and probably serious injury! This sport is about 90% kite control, it not about upper body strength or anything else you might think… just good old flying a kite!

3. Go take a package deal with a qualified instructor. If you want to be up and riding right away I suggest a kite vacation, its the best way to learn quickly in optimum conditions. By the end of a 5 day kite trip you should be riding, give up if your not! See my site for people I know and have kited with or send me an email.

Thats it! Your kiting, well kinda, you’ll drink water alot but you’ll have an amazing sense of what to do from flying the trainer. You will be amazed at how quickly you will progress due to your muscle/mind memory from flying on land.

You may have come here to learn about various aspects of this great water sport and we have content that can steer you into the right direction for techniques, maneuvers and safety. Before you set foot into the water we recommend a qualified licensed instructor should train everybody. That is their job and they do it well!
